Two Alabama high school football powers -Clay-Chalkville and Ramsay- square off Thursday night in one of the most intriguing games on the schedule this weekend.

Class 6A Clay-Chalkville (1-0) comes into the game ranked No. 4 in the latest SBLive/SI Alabama Top 25 football rankings. Aaron Frye shined in his debut at quarterback last week for Clay-Chalkville, completing 12-of-14 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-7 win over Hueytown.
Class 5A Ramsay (0-1), coming off a state championship game appearance last season, struggled in its 2024 opener, a 41-12 loss to A.H. Parker. Ramsay had a hard time containing Parker quarterback Dylan Reese, who threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more.
The programs are two of the most successful in recent AHSAA history - Clay-Chalkville is the second winningest 6A team of this decade and Ramsay is the winningest 5A team of this decade. Clay-Chalkville is coming off a 14-0 season that culminated in a 6A state championship victory over Saraland.

TOUCHDOWN CLAY-CHALKVILLE! Joshua Woods scores again, this time on a 54-yard touchdown run just before the end of the third quarter to give Clay-Chalkville a 62-7 lead. Woods now has four touchdown runs.
TOUCHDOWN CLAY-CHALKVILLE! It's officially time to empty the benches. The Cougars score on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Frye to Marlon Compton to take a 55-7 lead with 5:35 left in the third quarter. Frye now has 4 touchdown passes.
TOUCHDOWN CLAY-CHALKVILLE! The Cougars tack on a quick touchdown coming out of halftime as QB Aaron Frye finds Jabari Staples on a 52-yard TD pass to extend their lead to 48-7 (PAT fails).

Clay-Chalkville QB Aaron Frye had an impressive first half with 218 yards passing and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed 5 times for 39 yards. Running back Aaron Osley racked up 69 yards receiving and 54 yards rushing.

TOUCHDOWN CLAY-CHALKVILLE! Joshua Woods scores his third touchdown of the first half - this one a 7-yard TD run, to give Clay-Chalkville a 42-7 lead just before halftime.
TOUCHDOWN CLAY-CHALKVILLE! On the first play after Deon Callins' interception, Aaron Frye connects with Jabari Staples on a 33-yard touchdown pass to give Clay-Chalkville a 35-7 lead with 5:12 left in the half. This one is quickly getting out of hand.
INTERCEPTION! Deon Callins picks off a Kam Keenan pass to give the ball right back to Clay-Chalkville.
TOUCHDOWN CLAY-CHALKVILLE! After a pass interference call in the end zone puts the ball at the 3-yard line, junior running back Joshua Woods takes it to the house to give Clay-Chalkville a 28-7 lead with 5:33 left in the half. Woods' 3-yard touchdown run, his second of the game, caps a 14-play, 91-yard drive.
TURNOVER! Ramsay goes for it on 4th-and-1 deep in Clay-Chalkville territory and gets stuffed. Clay-Chalkville takes over at its own 8-yard line with 10:44 left in the first half, leading 21-7.

TOUCHDOWN CLAY-CHALKVILLE! Aaron Osley scores his second touchdown of the game, this one on a 4-yard run, to give the Cougars a 21-7 lead with 1:56 left in the first quarter.
TOUCHDOWN CLAY-CHALKVILLE! The Cougars methodically march down the field on a 12-play, 71-yard drive to tack on another touchdown, this one an 11-yard run from Joshua Woods. Clay-Chalkville leads 14-7 with 5:18 left in the first quarter.
TOUCHDOWN RAMSAY! This game is off to a wild start! Ramsay answers right back with a 42-yard touchdown pass from Kam Keenan to Shiye Rice to make it a 7-7 game with 9:41 left in the opening quarter. Keenan, a 6-foot-3 senior, has nine offers, including Colorado.
TOUCHDOWN CLAY-CHALKVILLE! On the Cougars first play from scrimmage QB Aaron Frye connects with Aaron Osley on a short pass and Osley takes it down the sideline for a 53-yard touchdown. Clay-Chalkville leads 7-0 with10:54 left in the first quarter.
INTERCEPTION! Clay-Chalkville's Sonny Randolph picks off a Kam Keenan pass just three plays into the game and the Cougars are in business.
